Carnegie Museum of Art’s legacy of fostering creative inquiry and playful exploration continues with The Art Connection (TAC) and Youth Art Studio (YAS) programs. Throughout 19 weeks of classes in 2023 and 2024, students in grades 5–12 developed their creative voices and visions with the help of teaching artists. Student artists responded to themes presented in our galleries, including activism through art, printmaking, and curation, while also practicing foundational art techniques.

Our programs for youth emphasize and strengthen connections between art-making, everyday life experiences, and artworks from our galleries. TAC and YAS activate each student’s self-expression and cultural connection to foster creative problem-solving and visual literacy.
