Walk alongside writer Patty Krawec and her son, naturalist Ben Krawec, to learn about the plants that grow around us and the stories they tell.

Join us for this guided nature walk from Carnegie Museum of Art to Schenley Park and experience the webs of interconnection among plant ecology in the urban environment, illuminating expansive ways of understanding our place within the natural world.

About the Speakers

Patty Krawec is an Anishinaabe and Ukranian writer from Lac Seul First Nation, Ontario and author of Becoming Kin: An Indigenous Call to Unforgetting the Past and Reimagining Our Future (Broadleaf Books, 2022). She is also the cohost of the Medicine for the Resistance podcast and cofounder of the Niiā€™kinaaganaa Foundation.

Ben Krawec is from the Niagara region of Ontario and currently resides in the territory of Michi Saagig Anishinaabek. He is a former wildland firefighter and currently works as an arboriculturist while studying ecological restoration. His observations of the environment through short form writing can be found on Instagram under the profile ā€œfoodgetter.ā€
