The Fellows were established in 1968 by Carnegie Museum of Art Board member James L. Winokur, who, along with other Board members and friends, was eager to help the museum find sources for acquiring major works of art for its collection. Winokur’s legacy lives on through The Fellows Chair, Lynn Desmone, and over 100 members.
Support from The Fellows is a crucial part of the Carnegie Museum of Art’s exhibition program, allowing the museum to continue creating experiences for its thousands of annual visitors, whether in its galleries, online, or in the community.
Annual membership begins at $1,500 and offers a range of benefits, including:
- Invitations to private previews and curator-led tours
- Exclusive invitations to prominent private collectors’ homes for viewings and receptions
- Two (2) travel opportunities throughout the calendar year to art museums, galleries, and private collections across the country
- Invitations to lectures with celebrated artists, scholars, collectors, directors, and curators
Members of The Fellows are also encouraged to join the Patrons Circle for an additional $1,895 per year, receiving additional benefits associated with all four Carnegie Museums.
