“I never took classes about carving, or working in a photo lab, or anything like that. I have had to teach myself how to do things. If you do that, you realize you can keep teaching yourself more—whatever you need to do, you just figure it out.”
Los Angeles–based artist Margaret Honda has worked in sculpture, performance, photography, and film. Last year, we commissioned a new sculpture for our Forum series, which features emerging and established contemporary artists. Honda produced a five-foot-long froglike creature inspired by a Renaissance painting by Bramantino.
