Step-by-Step Meditation
- Breathe deeply as you look at the sculpture.
- Focus your attention on the sun and its rays radiating outward. Contemplate the power and energy created by the sun in both this artwork and in the world.
- The Winter Solstice is the longest night of the year. Take a few moments in this meditation to reflect on this new season.
- Close your eyes and try to let go of the sunlight for a few deep breaths.
- Reflect on how your body and mind feel in the present moment.
- The Winter Solstice is often symbolic of rebirth and new beginnings as the days become longer.
- In order to prepare for this rebirth, try to let go of anything that doesn’t serve you. It could be an emotion, a memory, a habit, physical tension, or anything else that you want to release. Breathe in deeply as you imagine this idea, then exhale slowly as you release it from your life.
- Continue like this, releasing anything that doesn’t serve you as you prepare for new beginnings and brighter days in the coming year.
