Make time to slow down today and enjoy a guided meditation on Henri Fantin-Latour’s Lilies and Pelargoniums in a White Vase.
Step-by-Step Meditation
- Take a few moments to look at this work. Notice the arrangement of the flowers in the vase, each flower purposefully placed.
- Consider the composition as a whole, and the way each individual flower makes a natural arrangement. Observe the painting in as much detail as possible so that you can memorize the placement of each flower.
- Now, close your eyes and begin to imagine the flower arrangement in your mindās eye.
- Visualize one single flower at a time. What color is the flower? What is the scent of the flower? Take a deep breath in and out as you imagine the smell of the flower.
- Continue like this, visualizing one flower at a time in the vase.
- If you can no longer remember the composition from the painting, you can create your own flower arrangement.
- Continue focusing your awareness on the color and smell of a single flower to create your own arrangement. Do this for as long as you wish in order to calm and steady the mind.
