“Life is a train of moods like a string of beads and as we pass through them they prove to be many-colored lenses which paint the world their own hue, and each shows only what lies in its focus.”

Step-by-Step Meditation

  1. Take a few moments to look at the glass sculpture.
  2. Slowly move your attention along the white edge of the square. What mood does this white edge evoke for you?
  3. Now bring your attention inward to the orange outline. Follow the strip of orange around the square. How does focusing on this color affect your mood?
  4. Pass your attention to the dark areas of green and black around the square. Notice what mood or feelings arise by focusing on these darker colors.
  5. Finally, rest your attention on the vibrant amber color in the middle of the square. What emotions do you experience as you meditate on this amber color?
  6. Now, close your eyes and begin to visualize your own square made of different hues that reflect your different emotions. As new emotions or feelings arrive, acknowledge them and visualize them as colors in your square.
  7. Continue like this to focus the mind and gain insight into how your moods can color the way you see the world.
