Ana Raylander Mártis dos Anjos (born 1995, somewhere far beyond the west and the south itself, in the south of the south; lives in São Paulo, Brazil) develops long-term projects with a focus on research. She seeks to establish a dialogue between historical events and her biography, often reflecting on the knowledge of education and writing. Raylander is particularly interested in her Afro-Brazilian origins, the modern colonial project, and institutional critique. She has participated in numerous residencies and research grants at institutions such as Moraes-Barbosa Collection, São Paulo (2024); Pampulha Art Museum, Belo Horizonte, Brazil (2024); and Museum of Modern Art of Rio de Janeiro (2021). She received the New Artists Award from the Memorial Minas Gerais Vale (2024) and the EDP Residency Award from the Instituto Tomie Ohtake (2018). Select solo projects and commissions have been carried out for Museu Mineiro, Belo Horizonte (2024); Martins&Montero, São Paulo (2024); Paço das Artes, São Paulo (2023); Pivô – Art and Research (2020); and São Paulo Cultural Center (2018). Her texts have been published by MASP, Editora Fósforo, Jornal Nossa Voz, Centro Cultural São Paulo, Projeto Afro, MAM Rio, and Museu Paranaense.
