Abraham González Pacheco (born 1989, San Simón el Alto, Malinalco, Mexico; lives in Tepoztlán, Mexico) is a visual artist, set designer and draftsman. His work stems from an interest in Mexican history and the nonexistence of a historical archive of his hometown. González Pacheco questions the idea of an imposed identity, proposing alternative narratives which fill the voids of official History. This takes form as explorations of archeological fictions through drawing and installation and is inspired by the region’s landscape. Yacimiento 34 stands out among his projects as a fictitious archeological site in Mexico City, which included an excavation and an on-site museum to reflect upon the immediate past. His large format drawings function as scenographic elements in public spaces and exhort other artistic agents to appropriate them—examples include Centros y Periferias Inestables (2016–2017), Las piedras hablan cuando la historia calla (2018–2019), Monopolítico Suspendido at Museo Experimental El ECO (2024) and Consigna al Viento at Museo Tamayo Arte Contemporáneo (2024–2025) in Mexico City. His work has been exhibited at C3A Córdoba, Spain; el Museo Tamayo Arte Contemporáneo, Mexico; Museo Experimental el Eco, Mexico; MASP, Brazil; and KODE Museum, Norway.
