Youth Exhibition 2025

Hall of Architecture Apr. 12–21, 2025

Carnegie Museum of Art’s legacy of fostering creative inquiry and playful exploration continues with The Art Connection, Youth Art Studio, and Museum Makers programs. Throughout classes in 2024 and 2025, young artists ages 1–18 developed their creative voices and visions with the help of teaching artists.

On view in the Hall of Architecture, this annual exhibition features selected artworks that were created by students ages 1–18 in the museums’s school-year programs.

Opening Celebration

On Saturday, April 12, 2025, celebrate the artwork of young artists throughout the Pittsburgh region who have been learning and creating alongside artwork, artists, and educators at Carnegie Museum of Art throughout the 2024–2025 school year. A family preview and sensory friendly viewing hour will take place from 2–3 p.m.; from 3–5 p.m., all are invited to the public reception.

Saturday art classes at Carnegie Museum of Art have been the place where many young Pittsburgh artists found the tools for self-expression, created new connections, and discovered the ways looking and making are essential parts of life.

Whether you called them Tam O’Shanter classes, Palette, or The Art Connection, as the classes are called today, please join us for an artful reunion to celebrate nearly 100 years of teaching and learning at the museum!

About Our Programs

Our programs for youth emphasize and strengthen connections between art-making, everyday life experiences, and artworks from our galleries.

The Art Connection

Grades 5–8

The Art Connection challenges artists in grades 5–8 to create unique artworks inspired by the work in our galleries.

Youth Art Studio

Grades 9–12

Students in grades 9–12 will gather weekly to learn artistic skills to develop their personal art practices and portfolios as well as gather information regarding continued education and professions in the creative field.

Museum Makers

Ages 1–10

Museum Makers is a weekly studio-based program that provides art making, discussion and sensory experiences for young and school-aged children.
