The massive plaster casts in the Hall of Architecture are your inspiration for investigating texture through the medium of plaster. Michigan-based ceramicist Abigail Murray will guide participants through a series of explorations into adding texture to plaster forms.
Immerse yourself in all things plaster! Come early to see a robotic plastering demo with Michigan-based architect Steven Mankouche, and CMU architecture professor, Josh Bard!
About the artist
Abigail received her MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art and spent years making sculpture and installations before her ideas turned toward function. Inspired by a request for dishes from a friend and the intimacy of the relationship between pots and their users, she founded her brand in 2012. All pieces are made by her in her studio in Detroit, using a combination of hand building and slip casting techniques.
