Celebrate Michael Williams, the first of our two major 2017 Forum Gallery contemporary art openings.
Over the last 10 years, Williams has created paintings known for their layered imagery, eye-popping color, and use of techniques such as airbrushing and inkjet printing. His large-scale works often begin as drawings either on paper or on the computer screen before they are printed or transferred to canvas and then embellished with oil paint. For this, his first U.S. solo museum exhibition, Williams will present a suite of new paintings and a series of drawings.
Experience Williams’s incredible work, socialize over drawing activities, take contemporary art tours, check out Iris van Herpen: Transforming Fashion one last time, and dance to beats from DJ SMI.
Join us before Third Thursday at 7 p.m. for a free gallery conversation and reception with Michael Williams!
Third Thursdays at Carnegie Museum of Art
On the third Thursday of every month, we’re keeping the art galleries open late, turning up the volume, and welcoming partners throughout the city to create exciting, one-of-a-kind programs. Explore our exhibitions, enjoy music, indulge in a late-night café menu, and more. Curate your own experience!
