In 1939, longtime Pittsburghers Robert and Cecelia Frank commissioned modernist émigré architects Walter Gropius and Marcel Breuer to design and build a new residence as a total work of art, integrating architecture, furnishings, and landscape. Join the museum and university communities as Darcy Frank Mackay, granddaughter of the original owners and president of the Frank House Foundation, offers an inside look at this stunning, little-known masterpiece.
Following, Mackay will be joined in conversation by Rachel Delphia and Kai Gutschow. Rachel Delphia is the Alan G. and Jane A. Lehman Curator of Decorative Arts and Design at Carnegie Museum of Art. Kai Gutschow, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Modern Architectural History, and an Associate Head of the School of Architecture at Carnegie Mellon University.
