Join us in the Ailsa Mellon Decorative Arts and Design galleries for an in-person story time with Decorative Arts and Design curator Alyssa Velazquez.
For this Story Saturday, we will be reading Thread of Love by Kabir Sehgal. In the story, we will learn more about the popular Hindu holiday Raksha Bandhan through the tale of two sisters as they lovingly make rakhiâthread bracelets adorned with beads, sequins, sparkles, and tasselsâfor their brother.
After story time, all participants are invited to stick around for an art-making activity designed for children 12 and under.
This reading is made possible with the permission of Simon & Schuster.
This program is being offered at the same time as our summer event series, Inside Out. Hosted in partnership with local artists, arts organizations, and regional dish and drink vendors, Inside Out extends the museum experience outdoors with DJs, pop-up performances, and more. Inside Out takes place every Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. and every Saturday from noon to 5 p.m.
