Presented with Pittsburgh Art Book Fair
Meet artist Gabriela Pinilla for a special Story Saturday! Gabriela is a Bogota-based artist participating in If the word we: 59th Carnegie International through a special artist project published as part of the exhibition catalogue.
Inspired by her father-in-law who previously ran a school in a small mountain town of La Belleza in Santander, Colombia, Gabriela wrote and illustrated a beautiful book about a day in the life of a boy. The boy wakes up, eats breakfast, prepares for school, and learns many things, including the consequences of getting in a fight with his friends. Gabriela will provide a special coloring book where participants can draw their own stories of going to school.
This Story Saturday will be in Spanish and English and is organized in conjunction with the 2026 Pittsburgh Art Book Fair, where Gabriela Pinilla will be sharing a wide selection of her books and printed matter.
