Join us in the Ailsa Mellon Bruce Decorative Arts and Design galleries for an in-person story time with curatorial assistant Alyssa Velazquez reading Aaron Slater, Illustrator by Andrea Beaty and illustrated by David Roberts, followed by an art-making activity for children 12 and under.
This reading is made possible by Abrams Books for Young Readers.
About the Book
Aaron Slater loves listening to stories and dreams of one day writing stories himself. But when it comes to reading, the letters just look like squiggles to him. Aaron has dyslexia, just like 15 to 20 percent of all people. When his teacher asks each child in the class to write a story, Aaron discovers that his learning disability may inform who he is, but it does not define who he is, and that there are many ways to be a gifted communicator.
