Doug Aitken provides some spectacular close up views of North American migratory animals in his film migration (empire). Explore the unique physical features of similar animals in this behind-the-scenes view into CMNHâs collection of North American animal specimens. Learn how various attributes help animals adapt to their real habitats and imagine what the animals in Aitkenâs film thought about their unfamiliar surroundings. Youâll sketch using a few techniques from close observation and guidance from a naturalist, and a teaching artist.
