On September 19, Third Thursday: Intimate Subjects brings together over a dozen artists to perform and play in the museum. Join a selection of these artists for special workshops as we prepare for the big event. Participants will receive free admission to Third Thursday by picking up a complimentary pass at the workshop.
In this event, dance-maker and multidisciplinary artist Katja-Maria Taavitsainen (Berlin/Helsinki) invites participants to experience and share in her current project, FUTUREDANCES. The workshop is an immersive journey of movement led by the artist; it is open to anyone regardless of dance experience. Please wear comfortable clothing.
Artist Statement
FUTUREDANCES is alchemy work, an introduction of how to mold and shift energies, and how to play with frequencies, momentum, and the possibility of surrendering to the flow. It’s an ongoing body/mind manifestation of the beauty of the unwritten and vanishing moment of being alive. It’s a bodily poem of emotional landscapes. It’s a somatic song of all the ancient knowledge that we carry while moving and while letting ourselves be moved.
