Join us on Saturday, June 18 at 1 and 3 p.m. in the Sculpture Court for performances by STAYCEE PEARL dance project and Soy Sos. All afternoon, enjoy DJ sets by Soy Sos while participating in art-making, enjoying food and drink, and connecting with friends.
Alberta’s Pizza food truck will be on-site at the museum serving their award-winning pizza created with handmade dough and fresh mozzarella.
Trace Brewing, the official brewery partner of Inside Out, will have beer for sale. A selection of non-alcoholic beverages will also be available.
Inside Out events are FREE and most events are open to audiences of all ages. Make a day of it and reserve your timed tickets to visit the museum before or after you enjoy Inside Out!
About the Artists
STAYCEE PEARL dance project exists to interpret and mirror culture and community through dance and dance-centered multi-media experiences. With diverse casting and programming, STAYCEE PEARL dance project explores innovative conceptual possibilities while participating in meaningful collaboration. Under the leadership of Choreographer Staycee Pearl and Sound Designer Herman ‘Soy Sos’ Pearl, STAYCEE PEARL dance project produces programming around compelling concepts and themes often inspired by social/political world issues. STAYCEE PEARL dance project also occasionally examines the works of celebrated legendary and contemporary artists of the African Diaspora.
Soy Sos Herman ‘Soy Sos’ Pearl is head engineer and owner of Tuff Sound Recording, as well as sound designer and co-founder of PearlArts Studios. He has performed, created, and recorded his own music for over 25 years. With DJ MKL, Herman created 3 Generations Walking and MKL vs. Soy Sos, a deep house music-centered collective that produced approximately 30 releases with worldwide distribution and acclaim. His full-scale sound installation, “Named/Unnamed,” was featured at 937 Gallery for the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust and Three Rivers Arts Festival. He continues to develop live performance ensembles, remix projects, and multimedia art installations.
About Inside Out
Inside Out is Carnegie Museum of Art’s free outdoor summer event series. Inside Out takes place from Saturday, June 4 through Saturday, August 13 in the museum’s Sculpture Court in an immersive pavilion by artist Rafael Domenech, commissioned for the 58th Carnegie International.
On Thursday nights from 5 to 9 p.m., Pittsburgh’s expansive nightlife scene takes over the Sculpture Court. A lineup of some of the city’s most dynamic DJs transforms the Sculpture Court into a can’t miss happy hour destination for friends and dancing during the week. On Saturdays from noon to 5 p.m., everyone is invited to enjoy performances from regional arts organizations and performers, soak in summer sounds from DJs, grab a bite from local food trucks, and get creative with artists and art-making.
