Join us on Saturday, June 11 at 1 and 3 p.m. in the Sculpture Court for performances by legendary jazz drummer Roger Humphries and his RH Factor Band. In between performances, C Scott will soundtrack an afternoon full of eating, drinking, art-making, and summer fun.
Hermes Food Truck will be on-site at the museum bringing both fantastic gyros and platters as well as the classic carnival flavors of funnel cakes, corn dogs, and chicken tenders.
Trace Brewing, the official brewery partner of Inside Out, will have beer for sale. A selection of non-alcoholic beverages will also be available.
Inside Out events are FREE and most events are open to audiences of all ages. Make a day of it and reserve your timed tickets to visit the museum before or after you enjoy Inside Out!
About the Artists
Roger Humphries is rated by music critics as one of the most exciting percussionists in the business. He has provided the rhythmic beat for such greats as Ray Charles, Horace Silver, Richard âGrooveâ Holmes, Stanley Turrentine, James Moody, Lee Morgan, Dr. Billy Taylor, Benny Green, Lionel Hampton, Coleman Hawkins, Clark Terry, J.J. Johnson, Dizzy Gillespie, George Benson, Jon Faddis, Slide Hampton, Randy Brecker, Joe Williams, Milton Jackson, Jimmy Smith, Jimmy Witherspoon, Nathan Davis, Pete Henderson, Don Patterson, Gene Harris, Grant Green, George Harris, Freddie Hubbard, Bill Dogget, Jack McDuff, and a list of great musicians that goes on and on and on.
With various groups, Roger Humphries has performed at Carnegie Music Hall, the Village Gate and the Apollo Theatre in New York. He has also played at the Bohemian Caverns and Shelly Manneâs Manhole in Los Angeles; the Penthouse in Seattle, Wash.; Pepâs Lounge and Showboat, Philadelphia; the Jazz Workshop, Boston; Ronny Scottâs in London, and many other places.
About Inside Out
Inside Out takes place from Saturday, June 4 through Saturday, August 13 in the museumâs Sculpture Court in an immersive pavilion by artist Rafael Domenech, commissioned for the 58th Carnegie International.
Inside Out is Carnegie Museum of Art’s free outdoor summer event series. On Thursday nights from 5 to 9 p.m., Pittsburghâs expansive nightlife scene takes over the Sculpture Court. A lineup of some of the cityâs most dynamic DJs transforms the Sculpture Court into a canât miss happy hour destination for friends and dancing during the week. On Saturdays from noon to 5 p.m., everyone is invited to enjoy performances from regional arts organizations and performers, soak in summer sounds from DJs, grab a bite from local food trucks, and get creative with artists and art-making.
