Young artists ages 6 to 10 are invited to spend their day off from school immersed in art, learning, and fun!
During Day Off at the Museum: Gnome Homes, participants will use clay and other sculptural materials to construct a personalized home for a gnome friend, based on an artwork in the museum.
Students will have to decide what features a fantastical home would have if it was located within Monet’s Water Lilies or was an extension of Richard Serra’s metal monolith, Carnegie. Taking on the role of architect, artist and engineer, each student will decide what characteristics of a chosen piece would make the best home and problem solve the best way to construct it.
