About the Artists
Kiernan Laveaux
Kiernan Laveaux is a connective rhythmic energy conduit and ecstatic beat conductor from the Great Lakes. A boundless ball of discordant energy, sheâs an adventurous spiritâconducting the vibrant forces of our world that are transmitted through the unbridled passion contained within her DJing.
As a âone-of-a-kind American DJ,â sheâs best known for her arcane technical skill, propulsive dance floor catharsis, and hyper-creative approach behind the decks.
Originating from within Cleveland’s multiversal electronic underground, she materialized through the rhythms of life and her loved oneâinspired by forces of universal chaos, the experimentalism and joy found within midwestern electronic music, and the infamous In Training, Heaven is in You, Disco Paradiso parties manifested by herself and loved ones in Cleveland, sheâs since embarked on a lifelong journey of channeling binary dissolving phenomena throughout our known universe via her unbridled musical vitality and the multifaceted Sweet Abyss imprint.
The music she plays is all-embracing and expansive, but unified by a restless sense of ecstatic momentum, dissonant euphoria, and kinetic exuberanceâall woven together by entrancing pulsations of uninhibited groove and rhythmatic sensation.
Gladstone Deluxe
Gladstone Deluxe is a New York-based artist working with percussion and electronics. As a percussionist, Gladstone is interested in how conceptions and politics of time are embodied and can bleed into the social topography of a culture through rhythmic performance. As a technologist, he develops systems for the augmentation and amplification of percussive messages. His experimental approach toward composition and interface design is a collision of the spiritual and the cybernetic.
Gladstone has released music with Fixed Rhythms, Subsonic Ebonics, Black Techno Matters, and is/was. Films that Gladstone scored have been shown at the British Film Institute, a STARZ television premiere, the Hawaiâi International Film Festival, and more. Gladstone has recently appeared in galleries such as The Warhol Museum, Rubin Foundation, Fridman Gallery, Carnegie Museum of Art, and clubs all over the country. Over the past few years, Gladstone collaborated with Moog Synthesizers, SĆ Percussion, Attacca Quartet, Marcos Balter, Maria ChĂĄvez, Ikue Mori, and more. Gladstone also keeps busy as the timbales player for Las Mariquitas, which was recently featured in Rolling Stone. Gladstone holds a BFA from Carnegie Mellon University, an MFA from Columbia University, and is a Ph.D candidate at Princeton University.
Yessi
Yessi is the producer/DJ alias of Jessica Medrano Fuquay, a sound artist, film composer, audio engineer, and improvisatory musician based in Los Angeles. Her DJ sets concoct delicious multi-genre chaos with ever-expanding ingredients, weaving together sonic references from her familial ties in Colombia and her experiences organizing in queer nightlife scenes across the US dance music underground.
