As part of the experimental exhibition Copy + Paste: Hall of Architecture, Carnegie Mellon University School of Architecture students present their final projects from the studio Low-Relief. Three groups will display their finished models, provide a short presentation, and respond to questions from critics and the audience. The session will conclude with additional discussion and a reception celebrating an outstanding semester of working in the museum galleries.
Over the past few months, students have explored the history of plaster, new robotic techniques using plaster, and the ways that architecture can play tricks on viewers. Key questions raised in the course include:
- How does architecture relate to virtual reality?
- Can robotics help us learn about architecture from the past?
- How can architects use digital tools to generate new ideas in the design process?
