Carnegie Museum of Art invites you to the opening of Black Photojournalism. This exhibition—the first of its kind in any museum—features the work of nearly 60 different photographers active from the conclusion of World War Il in 1945 to the presidential campaigns of 1984, drawn from archives and libraries across the US. During this period of urgent social change and civil rights advocacy, Black photojournalists and Black publishers and their staff developed new methods and networks that transformed how people were able to access seeing themselves and their communities.
We are thrilled to invite you to experience Black Photojournalism and celebrate the photographers featured in the exhibition, many who will be present. Join us and register now for a day full of refreshments, talks and tours, and a visit to the exhibition in the museum’s Heinz Galleries.
