Art+Feminism Wikipedia Edit-A-Thon

Join Carnegie Museum of Art in collaboration with Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon University, and University of Pittsburgh for this year’s Pittsburgh Art+Feminism Wikipedia Edit-A-Thon. No prior Wikipedia editing knowledge is necessary. We will offer tutorials for beginner Wikipedians as well as reference materials and expert support. While some laptops will be available, you are encouraged to bring your own laptop and power cord, if possible.

The event is free and open to the public. Just drop in!

Art+Feminism is a national organization that in 2014 began organizing the Wikipedia Edit-A-Thon in order to address the lack of female participation in Wikipedia, the lack of female inclusion in Wikipedia and the arts, and the inherent bias that deficit creates. The event aims to both encourage more female-identified editors as well as more contributions to entries on female-identified artists and creatives of all backgrounds. With over 280 Edit-A-Thons across six continents, these events continue to create and improve thousands of Wikipedia pages for artists.

Art+Feminism Wikipedia Edit-A-Thon promotes intentional inclusion and intersectional feminism. Everyone is welcome to participate and contribute to entries that merit support on Wikipedia. Our use of “female-identified” wholly includes trans and cis women, non-binary and genderqueer individuals. The Pittsburgh Art+Feminism Wikipedia Edit-A-Thon is a safe and inclusive space for everyone, regardless of gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, race, ability, physical appearance, ethnicity, economic status, national origin, or religion—and not limited to these aspects. We will not tolerate any form of harassment of event participants and will be enforcing The Wikimedia Foundation’s Friendly space policy.
