This online workshop resists narratives of dystopian futures by using popular education, design, and storytelling to lay the groundwork for creative imaginings. Participants will get a crash course in the basics of what makes up Artificial Intelligence (AI) then create a collaborative, speculative story depicting a future of technology that is equitable and inspiring. Learners will walk away with a greater understanding of AI in our everyday lives and the agency they have in shaping the future of technology.
The online workshop is facilitated by artist, researcher, and technologist Mimi Onuoha, and artist, DJ, and educator Mother Cyborg (Diana Nucera), in collaboration with Allied Media Projects. The activity was designed by Onuoha and Mother Cyborg as an educational and speculative approach to understanding AI and its growing impact on society, exploring the forms AI takes today and the role AI-based technologies can play in fostering equitable futures.
Generous support for the Hillman Photography Initiative is provided by the William T. Hillman and the Henry L. Hillman Foundations.
