“Our Hodinoshoni ancestors traveled by canoe to Fort Pitt to trade beaver belts for Euro-American manufactured goods. Trade items included the iron axe, brass kettle, guns, cloth, and beads. And sadly into the trade came rum. For the 59th Carnegie International, the individual artists I invited will bring trade items. This will be an opportunity for visitors to barter for unique art and crafts.”
–G. Peter Jemison, participating artist, 59th Carnegie International
