A Love Letter to Teaching Artists: (Re)membering the HeART of Teaching presented by Dr. April Warren-Grice
You activate your artistic and creative process to connect with people of all ages across different lived experiences, you create and contribute to teaching and learning communities in our regional cultural institutions, family living rooms, churches, community centers, and you facilitate spaces for self-expression, big ideas, and learning across disciplines–you are a teaching artist!
Please join us at Carnegie Museum of Art for a day of connecting, celebrating, recognizing, and sharing the expansive value that your arts centered teaching practice contributes to teaching and learning communities throughout the Pittsburgh region. We are thrilled to welcome Dr. April Warren-Grice who will be presenting her praxis informed and responsive keynote, A Love Letter to Teaching Artists: (Re)membering the HeART of Teaching.
Our aims for the day are to work together through various modes of facilitation and resource sharing to identify and collaborate on possibilities and practices for:
- The sustenance you need and desire for sustaining a role as a teaching artist while continuing to develop your own self-expression.
- Holding the complexity of the aspiration of this radical work and navigating constraints of the institution you work in, or the time limit you have with your students.
- Teaching as an iterative practice, and as a process that transforms you as well as the learner.
Co-Presented with The Andy Warhol Museum and Assemble.
