On the occasion of the exhibition 20/20: The Studio Museum in Harlem and Carnegie Museum of Art, join participating artists Abigail DeVille, Jon Kessler and Kori Newkirk for a discussion at Carnegie Museum of Art.
These three artists chart the physical and social landscapes of America in the exhibition. DeVilleās installations accumulate found materials from specific places to address forgotten stories. Kesslerās kinetic sculptures focus on the unique aspects of urban settings, often emphasizing humansā curiosity to look, watch, and surveil. Newkirkās signature beaded curtains, which blur the lines between sculpture and painting, compose both built and natural landscapes from strung multicolored pony beads and braided hair. Co-curators Eric Crosby, Carnegie Museum of Art, and Amanda Hunt, The Studio Museum in Harlem, will moderate the public conversation.
